Star Wars Meets Hello Kitty - Boba Kitty

This is a manicure I got a couple years ago when I threw my husband a Star Wars themed 30th birthday party, but I just found these photos now!

I wanted a Hello Kitty Manicure, but I also wanted a Star Wars manicure… and after  getting some awesome stickers from http://www.hellowars.com/ I realized that I would never have to choose between those two worlds again.  My Boba Fett Kitty was pink… because I wanted pink bows.  It’s not like I was trying to be authentic anyway.  :)

This is Calgel on natural nails. 3D bows are made of acrylic and Boba Kitty was totally hand painted with a 3D bow over her ear.

A Few of My Favorite Blings
When the nail breaks,
When the cuticle stings,
When I’m feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite blings,
And then I don’t feel so bad…

My latest manicure by Atlas Studio.
Black tips with silver glitter and super blingy rhinestone bows on the ring fingers.
It’s a fun, elegant look that’s not too crazy.

Until he drew a swallow on my… fingernail…

I had been listening to a lot of The Smiths and Morrissey… as usual.  Anyway, that song, “Swallow on My Neck” always gets stuck in my head.  Since I’ll never have a swallow drawn on my neck, I wanted one drawn on my fingernail.

Of course, the swallow I wanted drawn on my nail had to be cute… so here she is, flying through jewel blue skies with white 3D puffy clouds.

Snow White is my favorite Disney Princess… so it was about time I had a Snow White themed manicure.

The colors were inspired by the outfit she wears - a lot of red, yellow, blue and, of course, 3D bows!  Plus a set of delicious red apples and a completely hand painted sassy version of Snow White herself on the thumbs (one giving a wink, as inspired by the Snow White art of Jenny Chung for Disney.)

Navy Blue Calgel Pedicure with gold and white dot detail.

My Mawaru Penguindrum inspired manicure featuring Penguin #3 and Esmeralda on the thumbs.

The Bling Finger.  My friend said it looked like a Fabergé egg… I kind of agree!

My manicure by Atlas Studio… stayed natural for the gradient and went all out sparkle on the ring finger.

Gel pedicure - a pastel pedi with silver stars

My 7 year old self would be proud of my manicure considering I’ve saved (and still use) my Little Twin Stars pencil box since 1987.

Little Twin Stars Manicure - inspired by a photo I found on Tumblr a long time ago that I haven’t been able to find again since I printed it out originally.

Party Manicure!  To get me through a fancy holiday season.

My newest manicure! Sanrio’s Cinamaroll with pastel polka dots.  He’s on the thumbs and he’s white on white so he doesn’t stand out too much.  There’s baby blue and white hearts on the pointer and ring fingers too.

The look was inspired by a set on the Cynful Nails blog and I brought in two pictures of Cinamaroll for the manicurist at Atlas Studio to use for the 3D design.

New manicure! Featuring Elizabeth from Gintama (I got Sadaharu on the other hand but he didn’t turn out quite as cute)

This was a One Piece themed manicure I got right before SD Comic Con in 2010. It’s got the Straw Hat Pirate skull and crossbones from their Jolly Roger and a little Tony Tony Chopper (all hand painted) with the rest of the nails getting a general funky pirate treatment.  I need to figure out another One Piece themed manicure soon…
